I’m a conceptual artist, and my work sits in the overlap between science and spirituality. I’ve been researching into consciousness and the nature of reality for a long time, and the key influences for my work, among many, include theories of quantum physics, geometry, higher dimensions, the study of energy and frequency. Consciousness could exist outside of - and influence us from beyond - the three spatial dimensions that our physical bodies inhabit. To explore this notion, my work alternates between dimensions - between the first, second and third dimensions, between inside and outside, empty and solid, visible and invisible.
Much of my current experimental work involves a layering of processes, beginning with printmaking on clear material which evolve organically into objects, exploring the ambiguity that lies between the two dimensional surface and the three dimensional object. The transparent nature of the chosen materials is therefore an important aspect, together with using light and shadow, in creating ambiguity.
The nature of consciousness, of what constitutes our reality, of dimensions beyond the three that we know, are all aspects of the fields of science and spirituality that continually drive my research and provide conceptual substance for the work.
There is a reality crisis we face today, and it is time to throw open the doors of scientific research in order to investigate the elusive nature of reality.
